10 reasons I love to homeschool

February 17th, 2009 at 9:29 am. Posted in Journal,Lifestyle.

There are so many reasons but I had to stop at just 10.

  1. I can be with my kids all day. They are  awesome people.
  2. It helps me grow in the fruit of the Spirit.
  3. I get to stimulate my brain and learn new things all the time.
  4. My kids get tailor-made education.
  5. We don’t have to get out in yucky weather.
  6. I can make sure they are eating well. Who are they going to trade lunches with?…
  7. I can be their main spiritual influence.
  8. We get to talk throughout the day. I learn things about my kids I may never know otherwise.
  9. Our lives are not rushed. We don’t overfill our life with stuff on top of a school day. Our schedule is more relaxed.
  10. We have flexibility for appointments, field trips, family visits and such.

What are your reasons?

    My ten reasons:
    1. They can run, but they can’t hide. Ha Ha
    2. I love to be able to mentor and coach my kids.
    3. Having them at home has allowed us all to be so much closer than we would have been otherwise! I love our relationships, especially at the high school and above ages.
    4. It has given us so many treasured memories over the years.
    5. They have had educations that suited their specific needs and learning styles.
    6. I have always been a life-long learner and have loved passing that perspective on to them.
    7. As Christian parents we are fullfiling our command to raise godly generations.
    8. Homeschooling has peeled away layers and layers of grunge from my soul. (Still layers to go, it’s good I have a little longer….)
    9. It has enabled me to be in a coaching role for newer/younger h’school moms, which has been a blessing.
    10. Homeschooling keeps my priorities aligned as I strive to be a godly example to our kids.

    Love them Dana! Especially #8.

I didn’t even include all the negative stuff my kids avoid, like drugs and fighting and bad teachers and negative influences in schools. But I am definitely loving those reasons too!

And I too love the other like-minded families I have met.

    Thanks for posting these!
