The Case for Excellence part 1
In American society today there seems to be an allergy to excellence, at least to the Christian idea of excellence. On the one hand you have children afraid to look “smart” in front of their peers. and on the other we have the Martha Stewarts working hard to convince us that perfection is possible. Kids are texting and losing what little grammar skills they may have once possessed while they try hard to be “gangsta.” … read on, my friend…
Book Review: Beyond Numbers
I bought this book a year or so ago and wanted to give a review of it. Actually it will be more of a “why I like this book” kind of post. Beyond Numbers: A Practical Guide to Teaching Math Biblically by Katherine Loop is the most helpful introduction to teaching math with Biblical principles that I have come across. She packs a lot of food for thought into less than 100 pages, and as … read on, my friend…
What is Bristol?

comfy shoes
Chicks like me love buying new shoes. They are cute and perfect with that certain outfit. The only problem is breaking them in. I don’t care how much I pay for shoes, the cuter they are the more they must be “broken in” to be anything less than a torture tactic. Funny how homeschooling can be like that. You have a new method you are trying out and it is just uncomfortable, bunching and squeezing … read on, my friend…
welcome 2009
I’m back to blogging here again. I’ve missed posting and interacting with those who stumble upon my little blog, so thanks for understanding my absence. Don’t you just love a new year? Like new fallen snow, the year lays before us, sparkling and unsullied. I have a ton of calendars that will turn over to reveal a fresh month (including the art-a-day calendar, courtesy Renae). I try not to make resolutions but that’s hard to do. … read on, my friend…
