Taking stock

John Singleton Copley. Mercy Otis Warren (Mrs. James Warren).This time of year it’s natural for me to step back and take a look at what we are doing around here in the way of education. I don’t like to wait until July to do that because, quite frankly, I need more lead time than that.

So I have been going through a time of reflection and was frustrated with some things. To remedy the situation I started to look outward instead of inward. The dryness in my lessons was not the fault of the material but the Teacher. Once I realized that, things fell back into place and the peace that has been missing returned. One scripture that ministered to me in this time is:

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take
refuge and put their trust under the shadow of your wings. They relish
and feast on the abundance of your house; and you cause them to drink
of the stream of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life;
in Your light do we see light.
(Psalm 36:7-9 AMP)

God is so good to speak to me through His Word. This scripture was just what I needed. Aaaahhhh! Feel like I had a good nap under a shade tree. Now back to business…

I believe that God led me to BPA and He hasn’t moved, so I’m not either. I’m more resolved than ever in the process and invested in the results. I’m not as concerned that my kids have fun as I am that they master the subjects. Now I’m ramping up my personal studies and evaluating my requirements of my children. It’s not quantity, it’s quality. And it’s all about God and gaining His Wisdom. The rest will fall into line.
