our little garden

In art time I had my girls paint a picture. It could be about anything they wanted, so long as it fit the artistic criteria we were studying. What she did made my day.

g garden

The picture is a garden, with her family as the flowers. Jesus is watering us with His Word and God is shining down on us with rays of hope. When I asked her to write details about it so we can remember what it was about, I should have specified to write it on the back!

I am so glad to see that she is understanding what we are doing. She is “getting it,” and it is coming out of her even in her free time. Thank you Lord!

BTW, the drawing is in black crayon, the background is in cool colors and the flowers in warm colors. the crayon will keep the colors separate, unless you really go crazy with it. I think it’s lovely.

Oh, I simply love this. The artwork is lovely…the wisdom of it all is even more beautiful! It’s wonderful to see ‘fruit’…I feel the joy for you! :)

  3. Thank yo uboth. I thought it was simply lovely, but then I’m a little biased!

God is faithful and yes, I am seeing some fruit and it is sweet!

This is absolutely beautiful!!! I love the colors…I especially love the intent and the thought that went into it and what it represents to your daughter!! Praise God…the green ‘shoots’ have started to appear above the ground, Anna!! I praising God with you!! This inspires me not to get discouraged but keep tending the garden of their hearts. It’s like sometimes I’ll get a ‘glimpse’ into the spiritual and I know of a certainty that God sees our efforts as homeschooling, even BPA, moms and He sees and knows our hearts and what we desire for our children and then He does the work that only HE can do!! God is faithful and He’s showing Himself faithful to you(and to all of us thru u, if we have eyes to see and hearts to discern HIs working in our lives thru our friends…) Anna, I didn’t mean to preach…just to let u know that what your daughter did was beautiful and that it touched me…then God starts moving on my heart and I end up spilling what’s in me all over your comments section!!!:-) sorry :-D

Are u using any particular art text? I have been going thru the NP ARt guide but I still feel a little lost as to what to teach re: the rudiments of ART … not just the biblical principles but actual art instruction. I think I remember somewhere u told us u were using a certain art text but I dont’ remember where I read that or what u were using…

For art this year we are using “Teaching Art to Children” by Joy Evans that only discusses the 7 elements of art. It’s bee na wonderful book and so easy to add in the principles.
