As I have done so many times, I get wild ideas and don’t really think them through. So, in case you have been looking for the principles study here, it’s not happening. That’s because I have been working with Lisa H. on an idea we have had for a couple of months now. We are beginning a study similar to the SDS in James Rose’s book, A Guide to American Christian Education.
We are really excited about it. It’s not overwhelming or voluminous. It will fit neatly into your summer schedule the next 12 weeks (it starts next Monday, June 19). If you need a little refresher, if you are new to BPA or if you just like to study, we hope you will join us for the weekly lessons and discussion. You’ll be glad you did!
And don’t forget about the opportunities to see Ms. Dang and Mrs. Smith this summer. If you can get to where they are you should go. (look on these sites for more info on conferences)
Oh, and I’m working on lots of material for my blog here, I just have been really busy lately and blogging is down on the list. Thanks for reading and let me know any BPA questions you have. I’ll answer to the best of my knolwedge and then I’ll find an expert. 
hmmm. I’d like to. But I’m at a marked disadvantage in that I don’t have the book. I’ve read like 20 pages of it. But then the pesky library thought it should have its book back.
This has been a stuggle for me. . .I came to homeschooling years ago under the CM approach. I love reading whole books with my children and discussing them. I was drawn to the PA approach because I wanted the “governmental” thinking brought in and notebooking. BUT I feel that if I go more PA than spending a few days a week discussing a principle as a hinge point then we won’t have time to read and discuss books in their entirity. Does this make sense?

I most likely will join as I need it so!! Thank you and Lisa H. for doing this. I just cant grasp how I am to teach this way with my dc. I have almost every BPA item out there and have gone to several of Miss. Dang’s classes. The first year I started her classes, it seemed she was speaking a different language. I was not used to the rich vocabulary!! I do some Bible the BPA way and I use Ruth Smith’s history, but thats it. I have one in HS, one in JH and the other 4 in elementary grades, I feel like time is of the essence!
Anyways, thank you again for giving of yourself to help us others =)

you can ceratinly do as much reading as you want. You can even do unit studies if you like. It’s the principles, it’s your philosophy, not a method. You can even study books along the chain of christianity and have literature-based lessons. The opportunities are endless. Do you have any more specific questions?

I must correct my statement above, that BPA is not a method. Of course it is a method. What I meant is that it is not a curriculum. Mr. Rose says in his “Guide” on p. 14,
“The Principle Approach is a method, a Christian method of Biblical reasoning. It is therefore a way or manner of reasoning Biblically, then governmentally, hisotrically and educationally.”

Actually, I had the money, but then dear hubby went and bought a piano. Now I have to look at my list and reconsider what I REALLY want…this might top the list. Oh, did I mention my computer has worms? You might have seen that post, but we can’t find it on the computer. We figure it already has access to about everything it wants, but until such time as we delete it, I’m not sending out account info just in case…I won a free book and am now frustrated because I don’t want to send that personal info, either. Argh.
